Energy bracelets are a total scam – in Australia they have just won a “Shonky” award from Choice Magazine, a consumer affairs watchdog, for being one of the most “Shonkiest” products of the year. Choice conducted double blinded tests on Power Balance Bracelets and found them to work no better than a placebo. Energy bracelets have no plausibility and use tricks and pseudoscience to sell them to people who should know better.
You can buy identical bracelets, complete with the hologram for $2 each; they’re called Placebo Bracelets and I’m wearing two right now. In fact I’ve not long left a conference where over 600 people were wearing them:
