Have we all forgotten to Play Out
Just the other day I was watching a Documentary about the old fashioned games we all used to play and immediately was taken back to the days of playing British Bulldog with all the kids in my school, and then later on in life all the kids in my street with my children. Also the joy of just having a Skipping Rope and a gang of kids or just being on my own, with my skipping rope, or even teaching todays children how to play the games I used to play. When I was a small child my Mother and Father had ploughed all their savings from being a Sargaent Major in Army for 25yrs into a Grocery Shop in Blackpool, and as they opened their shop the first ever superstore opened not so far away, so they had to work all the hours sent to try and keep their head above the water. In the morning I was at school for 8am playing Netball on my own until my friends turned up and after school we went straight to the park so I was never in. In the holidays living in Blackpool I just stayed out all day playing whereas nowadays children have all their toys to hand so dont move out of their rooms. In relationships even, I find doing thousands of readings is that couples have lost their playtime and the relationship becomes stale. It is so important for our own wellbeing that we incorporate Playtime into our lives as we do only live once, life is not a rehersal. I have recently gone back to working out in the swimming pool and feel so much more energised, and able to cope with the stresses and strains of everyday life, but most of all its not boring swimming I have made a plastic box to hold my IPOD in so that I can stand at the edge of the pool Jogging, Twisting, Jacking, Kicking to the music I love and before I know it an hour has passed and Im in a great mood. Can you remember a game that brought joy to your life, share your thoughts with me today.

Hi Katie, Your just great at getting us thinking. I just love taking my grand-daughter(10-08-04) out and finding games to do. Things that don’t cost anything. We go splashing in puddles, we go to say hello to the horses and animals and birds, we also try to name the birds and animals we see. Also we try to name the flowers and the trees around us. We take my german shepard out and they run up the hills together, i just walk up but i skip down. She also is learning to keep our dog under control so she gives commands to sheba dog. It is amazing to spend time with her and she loves to get involved and she learns quickly. I am a number 6 (12-07-58) my name full name on birth certifcate is a number 4 and the vowels are number 8
So how does that fit in with helping others.
May I say a big thank you to rosa for the help she has given over the years may her new venture be a great success as she deserves the best.
Love and light Bernadette
I am a dancer and an artist…..when I studied we spent time looking at the importance of play within creativity…..and now frighteningly when I work with young people…..I have to remind them of play and the interplay between exploration, taking risks, not feeling anxious about getting it wrong and finding , discovering the creative choices……
Play is undervalued……in learning, in creativity and in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In love particularly…..all this being grown up stuff can weigh love down……..laugh,and enjoy the health of mischief!!!!!!!!!
It is also something we should not take fro granted as when I work with autistc people, this element of imaginative play can be something they cannot grasp…..when I have sometimes triggered this…it has blown me away….as play allows us a way of truly interacting with the world and grasping joy
