Discount Fuel Pumps
if service stations sell 10% ethanol fuel why dont we get a 10% discount at pump?
i know that we have to pay for ethanol production, but if the fuel suppliers wanted to be honest they could use ethanol resources to power their production of ethanol based fuels.
we could at least get a 7-8% reduction. a servo near me sells 10% ethanol for only 1.6c cheaper than normal unleaded. the unleaded was for sale at 119.9 and the ethanol at 118.3 i think that they are ripping us off. AGAIN!!!!!
There’s not a 10% discount because the price paid helps aid in ethanol production. In the US and Canada, Ethanol for fuel (Whether it be E10 for regular unleaded or E85) is produced from corn.
Corn is one of the most expensive vegetables to use to produce ethanol. There is actually very little energy available from corn-ethanol. The price for E85 is actually subsidized by tax dollars, otherwise the price would be twice the cost of regular unleaded because of production costs.
